Why did you choose Purdue?
I chose Purdue because I loved the campus and everyone was so nice and welcoming when I came to visit.  Another big plus was the fact that I was accepted directly into the nursing program my freshman year.

What is a typical day like for you?

I usually wake up and do some type of exercise, and then get ready for my classes. I then work on homework and if I have any free time I either watch some TV, get on the Internet, or hang out with my friends.

What was your favorite class?

My favorite class was PSY 235-Child Psychology.  I love kids and think I may want to go into pediatric nursing, so this was a very interesting class and I learned a lot about child behaviors.  Also, the professor was full of energy and kept my interest in all the lectures.

What are your career goals?
After graduation I plan to work in a hospital either on the pediatrics or labor and delivery unit.  Eventually I would like to go back to school and get my Master's Degree and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and maybe in the future become a nursing professor.

What was your favorite course within your major?
My favorite course so far was my OB clinical.  I have always liked taking care of babies, but this clinical helped me to decide that I would love to be a labor and delivery nurse.  It was also one of my first classes that I actually got hands-on experience and started to feel like a nurse.  I became more confident in myself and know that I picked the right major.

Describe your most memorable experience at Purdue.
This is tough because I have had so many great experiences at Purdue. I love going to all the sporting events, especially football! I love to support the teams and it is so much fun hanging out in the student section and joining in on all the cheers. Its so cool to look around and see so many black shirts all participating in the cheers!

What is a unique experience that you have had as a tour guide?
My favorite tours to give are the specialized tours to middle school or junior high students.  They are always entertaining and have lots of questions to ask.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is MSEE (Materials and Electrical Engineering building).  I enjoy sitting at the tables to do homework and looking out at the engineering fountain.  It also has a little snack stand where I can get a drink to wake me up before my classes.

What would you tell prospective students about Purdue?
Purdue is a great school with many opportunities.  There are so many clubs and organizations to get involved in.  Be open to new experiences and don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone a little.  I guarantee you will make tons of friends if you do!

How has your Purdue experience been so far?
My experience has been great so far.  The School of Nursing is a challenging program, but do to such supportive staff and great friends I have made it through and will graduate this May.  The professors push you to succeed and Purdue really prepares you for the future.  Everyone is so welcoming and even though Purdue is a big university, my friends and professors have made it seem much smaller.
