8/97-- Connie Weaver, Purdue professor of foods and nutrition, and lab assistant Leslie Borman use a bone densitometer to measure an adolescent girl's bone strength. Weaver's research has found that adolescent girls don't get enough calcium during their "window of opportunity" of bone growth during puberty, which may result in osteoporosis later in life.
