Certified Travel Arranger (CTA)

The Certified Travel Arranger (CTA) role was created for those who arrange business travel for faculty/staff.  A designated CTA has the ability to book travel on behalf of selected travelers within the CTA's department.

The primary benefits of the CTA role are as follows:

  1. Empower secretaries and support staff with expert travel knowledge to arrange travel for faculty/staff
  2. Redesign business processes to put the CTA closer to the traveler for better support (reduce questions and reimbursement hassles) and to provide streamlined travel arrangements and reimbursements
  3. A traveler may select his/her own business trip itinerary and forward via email to his/her CTA for booking (air, hotel or car rental) on department travel P-card

How Does a Certified Travel Arranger (CTA) Become Certified?

A Certified Travel Arranger (CTA) candidate must be approved by the department business office and department head.  Once the candidate has successfully completed Purdue travel guideline training, the new CTA is given a certificate and enabled in Egencia Corporate Travel as a CTA.  The basic steps to the process are as follows:

  • The department business manager is to contact the University Travel Manager with CTA candidate name
  • Travel Manager arranges for candidate to take University travel guidelines and general P-card use training assessment via online WebCT Vista
  • Candidate completes training and assessment, then emails Travel Manager
  • If assessment successfully completed, Travel Manager issues CTA certificate and notifies ECCO Manager for new or modified travel P-card to be issued
  • Candidate follows "Getting Started" instructions to create a new ECT account.
  • Travel Manager establishes the new CTA role in Egencia Corporate Travel along with traveler names for whom the new CTA will be booking business travel
