ROTC GP Machines Service Level Offering
(Printable PDF Version)
Introduction
This document outlines the level of service that the ROTC Units can expect from Student Services Workstation Technology for Government Provided desktops, laptops, and printers (hereafter referred to as GP machines).
Scope
This Service Level Offering covers the Army, Air Force, and Navy ROTC units at Purdue as supported by SSTA-WT.
Procurement
NOTE: To receive SSTA-WT's full support for any machine, ROTC Units need to purchase machines through SSTA-WT following the normal purchasing procedure.
For ROTC Units unable to purchase machines via SSTA-WT and therefore obtain GP machines, the following guidelines should be followed before installation and/or connection to the Purdue network:
- The ROTC Unit Department Coordinator should contact SSTA-WT to determine if matching funds are available for an SSTA-WT supported machine to replace the GP machine.
- If matching funds are not available, SSTA-WT will work with the Department Coordinator to provide the limited support as outlined elsewhere in this document.
- ROTC Units must provide their own replacement life cycle for GP machines.
Provisioning
At installation time, the SSTA-WT will:
- Work with ITaP to provide a network connection and Internet access for the machine.
- Label the GP machine as "Not Supported by SSTA-WT."
- Verify that the ROTC Unit has on-going Patch and Anti-Virus Management plans in place that will minimize exposure to the Purdue network. Machines that get infected are subject to being taken off the network until cleansed.
Training
Training as organized through the SSTA-WT will not be available for GP machines.
Other Applications
SSTA-WT will not provide application support or deployment for GP machines.
Peripherals
Peripheral requests are not supported for GP machines.
Problem Reporting and Resolution
Support that is provided for GP machines:
- Arranging access to the Purdue network (i.e.: PIC, IP Address, Gateway)
- Verifying the ROTC Unit has proper Patch & Anti-Virus Management in place for the machine.
- Properly labeling the machine to reduce support confusion.
- Providing network connection problem support.
Examples of support that is not provided for GP machines:
- Loading an SSTA-WT OS image.
- Software support.
- Software deployment.
- Connection of any peripherals.
- Hardware repair support.
Users experiencing problems with a network connection should utilize the normal SSTA-WT support channels.
Backup and Recovery
Since GP machines will not have server network drives available, no data backup is provided for them, so ROTC Units must provide their own data backup & recovery methods for them.
Supported Models:
Since GP machines are not supported by SSTA-WT beyond providing a network connection, the ROTC Units can utilize any machine as long as it provides a Purdue network connection if it’s desired to be on the network. |
