(Printable PDF Version)
Introduction
This document outlines the level of service that SSWT supported departments can expect from Student Services Workstation Technology for Multifunction Printer Units.
Scope
This Service Level Offering covers departments at Purdue that are supported by Student Services Workstation Technology.
Procurement
If a department wishes to purchase a multifunction printer, the department should contact SSWT during the evaluation stage so SSWT can plan for the unit properly. The department is responsible for procurement of the unit. No VPSS funds will be used for the purchase. An Annual Support Fee for any "net-new" multifunction printer added to the environment will be assessed without a corresponding removal of a multifunction printer.
Provisioning
At time of installation, SSWT will provide the following:
- Arranging initial connectivity to the Purdue network (PIC, IP Address)
- The NIC will be given an IP address reservation on SSTA’s private printer subnet
- The NIC must be configured to use DHCP
- Installation of print drivers and software package which allows for various print/copy/scan functionality on SSWT supported computers in the department.
- All workstation configurations must be performed by SSWT. The vendor is not permitted to make unapproved changes to SSWT supported computers.
- SSWT will work with the Departmental Computing Coordinator to determine the options to be configured in the software.
Problem Resolution
SSWT will troubleshoot the following for multifunction printers:
- Connectivity to the Purdue network.
- Print driver and software package installation issues which allows for various print/copy/scan functionality on SSTA supported computers in the department.
- The Departmental Computing Coordinator is responsible for engaging SSWT and the vendor to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner in resolving problems with the unit’s configuration.
- SSWT will not provide hardware repair support for multifunction printers.
VSC Scanning
SSTA utilizes ITaP Security & Privacy's Vulnerability Scanning Cluster tool to help ensure that supported printers are secure. Multifunction Printers with a data connection on an SSTA owned subnet are also scanned.
- Any Multifunction Printer that fails the Baseline is required to be updated immediately or it will be removed from the network until is it deemed by the WT Manager and Student Services Security Officer to be secure.
Training
Training as organized through SSWT will not be available for these units.
