What if I don’t get along with my roommate?
Resident Assistants and residence hall staff can help with roommate problems. University Residences generally are at capacity, so changing rooms is difficult early in the semester.
Where do I go if I am feeling down, stressed, or have personal concerns?
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to providing students with the opportunity to talk to a counselor in a confidential, supportive atmosphere to help in self-understanding and resolving a variety of personal issues. For information on CAPS, visit www.purdue.edu/CAPS.
For more information on student wellness and safety, visit the Student Wellness and Safety section.
What will the weather be like?
We will have some hot days in the early fall. Make sure you have an umbrella for rainy days. You’ll probably need boots and winter gear by November or December; plan to use them through March. Weather in Indiana can be quite unpredictable!
Is public transportation available?
Along with taxi services, Lafayette is served by CityBus, which offers service throughout Lafayette-West Lafayette and the Purdue Campus. The campus loops run regular routes around campus day and night, and CityBus is free to Purdue students, faculty, and staff with a Purdue ID.

How do I get home if I don’t have a car?
Lafayette-West Lafayette has Greyhound bus service, Amtrak train service, Lafayette Limousine transportation to and from the Indianapolis Airport, a shuttle service to and from O’Hare International Airport, and rental car agencies.
