As detailed in its mission, vision and values statement, the Student Access, Transition and Success Programs (SATS) department, a division of the Office of Enrollment Management, empowers and inspires all students to embrace a sense of life-long learning by providing nationally-recognized, student-centered, pre-college preparation and college success initiatives and services. These initiatives assist students in their preparation for, transition into, and success in a college environment. The department’s various interconnected programs assist students in progressive stages of development; and have as their ultimate goals an increased rate of student degree completion, future employment or study, dedicated citizenship, and responsible leadership in the state, nation, and world.
Some of these programs start working with students and their families as early as the 6th grade, while others help support students through the completion of their baccalaureate degrees at Purdue. SATS programs include Summer Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR), Learning Communities, Orientation Programs (such as Boiler Gold Rush and Welcome Programs), Parent and Family Programs, the Purdue Opportunity Awards program, the Purdue Promise progam, Support for Twenty-first Century Scholars at Purdue, and the West Central Indiana regional Twenty-first Century Scholars site.
