Member Services
One of the most interactive jobs at the Division of Recreational Sports, serving at the Recreational Sports Center’s “hub” allows you to fine-tune your customer  service skills! Whether its selling DRS memberships, locker/towel service, sales items, or registering eligible participants for fitness programs or intramural sports, you will gain valuable experience. Other duties include securing reservations for racquetball/wallyball/squash courts, collecting and logging lost and found items, and other tasks as assigned.

Operations Assistant
This job is centered around two main areas: Entry Control and the Equipment Center. At Entry Control, develop an understanding of the facility’s divisions and areas of recreation as well as serve daily patrons and viewing guests. At the Equipment Center, you will use our RecTrac software to check out equipment to RSC patrons. You will also launder towels and answer questions and inquires as needed. It is a great position for serving and interacting with guests and other RSC employees!

Intramural Sports Office Assistant
This individual is responsible for completing data entry for intramural activities and filing paperwork. Additional responsibilities include providing customer assistance regarding program and facility questions (IM, Fitness, & Club Sports) and communicating with participants and staff regarding schedule changes. Other office tasks may be assigned like updating forms, bulletin boards, and maintaining records.

Intramural Sports Official
Strrrrike 3! Always wanted to call balls and strikes or fouls and violations? Be an Intramural Sports Official for flag football, soccer, basketball, softball or volleyball. Intramural Sports Supervisor
Be the ultimate team player! “IM Sups,” as they’re commonly referred to, are responsible for the facilitation of all Intramural Sport activities. Job duties include game organization and management, field preparation and tear down, ensuring a safe and secure playing environment, responding to injuries and emergencies, and supervision of Intramural Officials. Possessing a general knowledge of individual Intramural Sport rules, Intramural Sports policies, and excellent customer service skills are preferred qualifications. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Club Sports Supervisor
Got game? Become a part of the club sports team. Supervisors need to possess excellent customer service skills, the confidence and ability to handle    sometimes difficult situations, and make good decisions. Job duties include: enforce DRS and University policies at events hosted by Purdue Club Sports, ensure that the playing environment is safe and secure, respond to injuries and emergencies, and minor event set-up and break-down. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Group Exercise Instructor
The role of the group exercise instructor includes instruction of safe and effective fitness sessions focusing on the student, staff and faculty population at  Purdue University. Instructors are expected to prepare for fitness sessions by designing well-balanced movement patterns that are appropriate for all levels of participation. Other duties include attending all scheduled staff meetings, in-service training, and scheduled individual training sessions. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid,

Personal Trainer
Enjoy one-on-one sessions with clients as you guide them toward a healthier lifestyle! Knowledge of fitness assessment procedures and ACSM guidelines is essential as you assess resting heart rate/exercising blood pressure, posture, body composition, height, weight, flexibility, and V02max prediction. You will evaluate client goals and develop individualized exercise designs for asymptomatic and diseased populations. Other duties include attending all scheduled staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Boiler Challenge Facilitator
Apply your leadership skills and help other students grow and learn! The Boiler Challenge program consists of adventure-based experiential activities that challenge participants physically, mentally, and emotionally. Facilitators are responsible for leading groups on high and low challenge elements to get them to work together as a team, increase confidence, increase self-esteem, improve communication skills, and enhance understanding of and respect for individual differences. Other duties include attending all scheduled staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Experience in leadership positions or leadership training is a plus. Most work hours are on the weekends. Previous experience or successful completion of the Team Up and Boiler up workshop are required for  application. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Colby Fitness Center Supervisor
Supervise the Colby Fitness Center! The Fitness Center Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safety by monitoring participants and fitness areas, keeping equipment organized and clean, spotting patrons, offering equipment demonstrations, and answering questions.  In addition, the Fitness Center Supervisor should have a thorough working knowledge of all strength and cardio equipment. Other duties include attending all scheduled staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Upon hire, will be required to be certified in CPR/AED.

Lifeguard
Keep your skills current and refined by working in the Boilermaker Aquatic Center! Become a part of the lifeguarding team as you ensure the safety of facility patrons participating in a range of activities from aqua aerobics to NCAA swimming and diving competitions! Guards are responsible for preventing and responding to emergencies, enforcing all facility policies, rules and regulations, as well as participating in scheduled in-service training sessions. Take the plunge!  In order to apply, current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer are required.  If not already certified, upon hire, will need to be certified in in American Red Cross Preventing Disease Transmission. 

Water Safety Instructor
A rewarding role which uses American Red Cross courses to teach people to swim and ensure safe practices in and around water. Instructors may work with groups, or instruct private and semi-private lessons for children and adults. Instructor’s responsibilities will include providing progressive lesson plans and certifying accomplished swimming standards. In order to apply, current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer are required.  If not already certified, upon hire, will need to be certified in in American Red Cross Preventing Disease Transmission. 

The Division of Recreation Sports periodically offers certification classes throughout the semester.
