Do
you want to continue watching Purdue football and basketball
games on TV without paying extra for a cable sports
package? |
Then you need to contact your
local cable provider and let them know that you want
them to offer the Big Ten Network on expanded basic
cable.
The Big Ten
Network is America's first major college
sports network. It will be dedicated exclusively
to Big Ten sports coverage, giving fans better access
to their favorite teams. Launching on August
30th, the Network has already announced the first three
weeks of its college football schedule, which includes
the Boilermakers' September 8th game against Eastern
Illinois.
This season, the Big Ten Network will offer:
- More than 35 football games in high definition
television;
- More than 105 regular Big Ten Conference men’s
basketball games in high definition television, with
4-6 weeknight games and 4-7 weekend games per week;
- A nightly studio show, including segments from
each Big Ten member campus;
- More women’s sports than ever before, including
basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer. The
Big Ten Network has also committed to equal opportunity
for women’s sports coverage in the form of
equal production quality and quantity for men’s
and women’s events;
- More than 170 other NCAA championship sporting
events, including baseball, soccer, tennis, volleyball,
swimming, diving and more;
- Classic Big Ten games from the last 30 years;
- Weekly coaches shows and behind-the-scenes profiles
of athletes, faculty, and alumni.

In addition, the Big Ten Network will
also feature shows produced by the member universities
and their students, showcasing the academic excellence
prevalent in the Big Ten. Each university will
be allotted 60 hours of original programming every
year to feature the content that best represents their
campus achievements and way of life. The Big
Ten Network will build a television studio at each
of the universities for on-campus interviews and features.
The Network is being made available to all cable and
satellite providers nationwide, but many local cable
operators have not yet agree to carry this program
as part of their expanded basic lineup. If you want
to be sure Boilermaker sports will continue to be available
on your home screen at no extra charge to you, it's
time to let your local provider know.
We need you to contact your local cable provider
and tell them you want the Big Ten Network as part
of your expanded basic cable package. That’s
the only way you’ll have access to these great
athletic events and groundbreaking university programming.
