Re: BUSINESS OFFICE MEMORANDUM NO. 161
Reduction in Length of Service Requirement for Use of
Vacation and Personal Holiday
Effective Date: December 1, 1975
The following policy change was approved by the Board of
Trustees at its meeting on 10 July 1975 upon recommendation
by the President and his staff.
The length of service required before earned vacation may be
taken and paid is reduced from six months to three months. (Example:
An individual employed 1 September 1975 will be eligible for
paid vacation as of 1 December 1975.) This change is applicable
to staff members of all classifications.
Similarly, the service requirement for use and payment of
the personal holiday for members of the clerical and service
staff is reduced from six months to three months effective
1 December 1975.
The reduced service requirement will also apply in determining
the payment of unused vacation (all staffs) and the personal
holiday (clerical and service staff) at termination of employment.
Likewise, it will apply in making payment of these benefits
at layoff and reduction-in-force for clerical and service
staff.
This revision supersedes only the service requirements for
use of earned vacation and personal holiday set forth in earlier
Executive and Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer memoranda.
Questions relating to this revision should be directed to
the Department of Personnel Services at the West Lafayette
Campus and to the Personnel Manager or Business Manager at
Regional Campuses.
