Heather Day - Heather
emigrated to the United States from England as a high school student.
She has lived and worked in four countries, and she has studied and
continues to study several languages. Her B.A. is in French and
she holds two Master's degrees. Heather has worked as a
professional librarian, and has also had experience in editing,
grant-writing, and compiling bibliographies for publication.
Currently, Heather teaches academic writing classes and TOEFL at the ESOL
Program, Purdue Village, and she also tutors ESL students (of all
ages) in conversation, writing, and test preparation. She also has an editing service with

Mary Gitzen - Mary received her
Ph.D. in English from Purdue in May 2002. With over 30 years
experience teaching students from pre-K to adult, Mary has specialized
in teaching ESL for the past 10 years, focusing especially on
pronunciation and fluency, everyday conversation, and business

Carly Houston - Carly is an MA
student of Linguistics at Purdue University. She received a BA
in English in 2006 from Arkansas Tech University, and moved to
Indiana in 2007. Carly is currently an instructor for ENGL
001T in the OEPP, but is available for private tutoring during
evenings and weekends. Carly is available to help you with

Tarik Saadi - Tarik is a doctorate student at Purdue who
immigrated to the United States in July 2001. Tarik has a BA
in Linguistics, an MA in Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and
is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Special Education with an emphasis on
assistive technology. Tarik obtained a certificate of excellence
and hard work in the English Language Institute at the University of
Pittsburgh. Tarik knows four languages: Moroccan as a
native language, Arabic, French, and English. Tarik's home phone

Beth Tucker
– Beth is an immigration counselor at Purdue who has worked with
international students and ESL students for the past 20 years. She has
a B.Ph. in Linguistics with TESOL certification and MA in
Intercultural Studies. Prior to working as an international student
advisor for six years, Beth taught ESL for 3 years in Taipei and
Taichung, Taiwan. She also taught ESL to U.S. immigrants in three
community college programs in Chicago, IL. She is fluent in Mandarin
Chinese and has studied Spanish. She is available for tutoring in
