Summer Programs

Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP)

SROP is a gateway to graduate education at CIC Universities. The goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.

SROP is designed to enhance students academic and research skills by working one-on-one with a faculty mentor from top-ranked research institutions. Students gain experience as an undergraduate student to put them at an advantage as a graduate applicant.

Program Includes:

  • Round trip transportation
  • University housing for 8 weeks
  • Research Stipend
  • Workshops on Preparation for GRE
  • Poster and Oral Research Presentations
  • Evening Meetings
  • Access to Recreational Facilities, Libraries, Computers, Research Labs and Health Center
  • Weekend Fieldtrips

Selection Criteria:

  • Interest in pursuing a research-based doctoral degree
  • Relevant college coursework from the area of study
  • Recommendation letters from faculty or research advisors
  • Grade point average
  • Ability to contribute to the programs goals

AGEP Summer Bridge Transitional Program

The Purdue AGEP campus offers a unique opportunity for incoming graduate students. Once you have been admitted to one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) disciplines, you can ask your department to nominate you for the AGEP Bridge Transitional Program. You will conduct research over an eight week period and receive a stipend. In addition, transportation costs and on campus housing will be covered.

LSAMP Summer Research Program

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) summer research program offers student research, enrichment and support opportunities with AGEP Scholars via mentoring and coaching. Eligibility: Purdue undergraduate students with an emphasis on students historically underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Agricultural Science & Agricultural Engineering. Must be a US citizen, national or permanent US resident.
Students will attend professional development workshops, complete a community service project and present their results with a poster and oral presentation. A stipend will be provided for the students.
