Veterinary Clinical Sciences

We are pleased with your interest in our graduate program. Before you continue with the electronic application for admission, we wish to ensure that you are familiar with the minimum requirements for admission to graduate degree study in Veterinary Clinical Sciences. It is important to recognize that although satisfaction of these basic requirements does not guarantee graduate admission, failure to satisfy these requirements may lead to automatic denial of admission.

Supporting Documents: Additional documents are required to support the application. Supporting documents should be mailed directly to the graduate program to which you are applying. Supporting documents include the following, unless specific instructions are noted in the "Completing the Application" section of this page:

  • Transcripts - Veterinary Clinical Sciences will accept unofficial transcripts and/or academic documents uploaded through the online application system for review purposes.  You will only need to provide official transcripts and/or academic records at the request of Veterinary Clinical Sciences or if you are recommended for admission.
  • GRE Test
  • English Proficiency
  • Recommendation letters
  • Statement of Purpose

Current master’s students wishing to move to a doctoral degree program in this same graduate program will not be required to submit a new application.

Master's Degree Program Basic Requirements

Please Note: This is not an application for admission to our DVM program. If you are interested in applying for admission to the DVM program, please e-mail: vetadmissions@purdue.edu or contact the Student Services Office at 765-494-7893.

If you are interested in applying for a clinical pathology or anatomic pathology residency program you should apply to the non-thesis Master's/residency program for the appropriate area through the Department of Comparative Pathobiology.

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required for unconditional admission
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Not required

International Applicant Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required for unconditional admission
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Not required
  • TOEFL / IELTS for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Applicants must achive the minimum test scores set by the Graduate School.
  • Special Notes:
    Master's Degree programs are generally permitted only for those currently
    enrolled in a veterinary residency program.

Doctoral Degree Program Basic Requirements

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Not required

International Applicant Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required
  • Master's Degree Completion:
    Not required
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Required -- no minimum score set
  • TOEFL / IELTS for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Applicants must achive the minimum test scores set by the Graduate School.
  • Special Notes:
    Please state specific research interests. Funding may not be available unless
    research interests match current departmental research.
