We are pleased with your interest in our graduate program. Before you continue with the electronic application for admission, we wish to ensure that you are familiar with the various degrees offered in the College of Technology, as well as the minimum requirements for admission to graduate degree study in Technology. It is important to recognize that although satisfaction of these basic requirements does not guarantee graduate admission, failure to satisfy these requirements may lead to automatic denial of admission.

Degrees: The College of Technology offers a college-level doctoral degree that allows areas of interest in our departments listed below.  These departments in the college offer their own master's degrees.  If you want to pursue an M.S. degree in AT, BCM, CIT, CGT, TLI or ENGT you need to make sure you see their Graduate Program Requirements page and apply directly to that MS program.

Doctoral Degree Program Basic Requirements

Two degree paths are available: direct to PhD (students hold a qualified B.S. degree) and master's plus (students hold a qualified M.S. degree).

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    Direct Admit: 3.5 or equivalent required
    Master's Plus: Not required.
  • Master's Degree Completion:
    Direct Admit: Not required.
    Master's Plus: Required, with a grade point average of 3.0 or equivalent
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Direct Admit: 60th percentile scores required
    Master's Plus: 50th percentile scores required

International Applicant Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    Direct Admit: 3.5 or equivalent required
    Master's Plus: Not required.
  • Master's Degree Completion:
    Direct Admit: Not required.
    Master's Plus: Required, with a grade point average of 3.0 or equivalent
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Direct Admit: 60th percentile scores required
    Master's Plus: 50th percentile scores required
  • TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Minimum Paper-Based Test (PBT) Score Required: 550
    Minimum Internet-Based Test (IBT) Overall Score Required: 77
    With the following minimum section requirements:
    Reading: 19
    Listening: 14
    Speaking: 18
    Writing: 18
  • IELTS (Academic Module):
    An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 6.5 or higher will be accepted
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic Module):
    An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 58 or higher will be accepted
  • TWE for Non-Native English Speakers
    Not required, but recommended
