Nursing

We are pleased with your interest in our graduate program. Before you continue with the electronic application for admission, we wish to ensure that you are familiar with the minimum requirements for admission to graduate degree study in Nursing. It is important to recognize that although satisfaction of these basic requirements does not guarantee graduate admission, failure to satisfy these requirements may lead to automatic denial of admission.

Supporting Documents: Additional documents are required to support the application. Supporting documents should be mailed directly to the graduate program to which you are applying. Supporting documents include the following, unless specific instructions are noted in the "Completing the Application" section of this page:

  • Transcripts - Nursing will NOT accept unofficial transcripts and/or academic documents uploaded through the online application system for review purposes. You must provide official transcripts and/or academic records at the time of application.
  • GRE Test
  • English Proficiency
  • Recommendation letters
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae
  • Copy of current U.S. RN license
  • Criminal Background Check from approved agency (see below)

Application Deadlines: Applications and all supporting documentation must be received on or before the deadlines listed below:

Fall or Summer Spring
U.S. Citizen January 15 NA
International January 15 NA

Completing the Application:

  • Transcripts: Transcripts from each university or college ever attended are required even if you did not complete a degree at that college or transferred courses in to another college.
    • Paper transcripts:  Submit two official (original) transcripts from each university or college you have ever attended, even if you did not complete a degree at that college. Ask the colleges to send your transcripts directly to the College of Nursing at the address above.
    • Electronic transcripts:  We can accept electronic transcripts from institutions of higher education in the United States. Request the Registrar of those institutions to direct the electronic transcripts to Purdue University Calumet Graduate Studies Office at grad@purduecal.edu. You will only need to request one electronic transcript. Unfortunately, we cannot accept electronic transcripts from applicants for degrees/course work earned outside the United States
    • Purdue University transcripts:  If you attended any Purdue University campus in the past, you can check the box in the online application that gives us permission to access your records. We will be able to directly request your Purdue transcripts. However, you will must submit all other non-Purdue transcripts even if that transfer credit posted to the Purdue transcripts.
  • GRE Test (Not Required)
  • TOEFL Test (Refer to Additional International Applicant Requirements above)
  • Recommendation letters
    • In order to process your admission, you are required to submit three recommendations evaluating your scholarly potential and ability to pursue graduate study. At least one recommendation should be from a professor of nursing. Recommendations may be completed directly through the application system. You will just need the e-mail addresses of the people that will give your recommendations, and the system will contact them to complete the form. As an alternative, you can also print the recommendation form, give the form to each recommender and ask them to mail their recommendation form directly to the College of Nursing.
  • Statement of Purpose
    • The statement of purpose consists of 300-500 words that address your purpose for undertaking graduate study, your reasons for choosing Purdue, career goals and research interests. Because you must upload a document in order to submit your application, we suggest that you upload a document stating only the following “Statement of Purpose to follow.” This will help expedite the application process. Then, at a later date, attach your completed statement to a separate email addressed to Jessica Pierce, Graduate Program Secretary for the College of Nursing, at Jessica.Pierce@purduecal.edu. As an alternative, you can mail your statement to the College of Nursing.
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae
    • Because you must upload a resume in order to submit your application, we suggest that you upload a document stating only the following “Resume to follow.” This will help expedite the application process. Then, at a later date, attach your completed resume to a separate email addressed to Jessica Pierce, Graduate Program Secretary for the College of Nursing, at Jessica.Pierce@purduecal.edu. As an alternative, you can mail your resume to the College of Nursing.
  • Copy of current U.S. RN license
    • Submit a copy of your current registered nurse license(s) to the College of Nursing or provide us with the state and license number. If we are able to access a state license database we will pull a copy of your license (if available). You can email Jessica Pierce, Graduate Program Secretary for the College of Nursing, at Jessica.Pierce@purduecal.edu and provide the state of RN licensure and your license number.
  • Criminal Background Check
    • TO BE COMPLETED AFTER ADMISSION ONLY – This is no longer a pre-admission requirement.  If an applicant is offered admission and accepts that offer, the College of Nursing will provide the instructions for completing the background check with the appropriate company.
