The Freeman-EAS Program, sponsored by the Freeman Foundation, offers emergency educational allowances to undergraduate students from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand at accredited U.S. institutions whose ability to pursue their studies has been seriously affected by the December 2004 earthquake/tsunami. U.S. campuses are invited to nominate up to four (4) individuals for whom help is especially needed.
Applications for Freeman-EAS assistance must come from an International student adviser on a US campus. Students cannot apply directly.
REQUIREMENTS/RESTRICTIONS
Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for a Freeman-EAS educational allowance:
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand
- Be an undergraduate pursuing a two-year Associate’s degree or a four-year Bachelor’s degree at an accredited US institution, already enrolled as of December 2004
- Be in good academic standing, as defined by their host campus, and be in legal non-immigrant status in the US (US permanent residents and US green card holders are not eligible to apply)
