Type of Aid: Grant for qualified Twenty-first Century Scholars to use in a summer session either before or after completion of the first year of college.

Source of Funds: State of Indiana. Administered by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI).

Eligibility Criteria: Indiana resident, SSACI approved courses only, satisfactory academic progress.

Application Form(s) Required: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)/Renewal for the subsequent academic year.  Twenty-First Century Scholars Gear Up Summer Scholarship Application submitted to DFA.

Application Procedures: File FAFSA/Renewal and a Twenty-First Century Scholars Gear Up Summer Scholarship Application available from DFA or your local Twenty-first Century Scholar Support Site.

Application Deadline: FAFSA received at the Federal Processor by March 10, 2008. FAFSA corrections (also called "edits") must be recieved on or before June 10, 2008. Twenty-First Century Scholars Gear Up Summer Scholarship Application must be submitted verified by DFA and submitted to SSACI by June 6, 2008.  SSACI edits for subsequent year FAFSA must be cleared before they will process the Gear Up Application. 

Amount of Award: Tuition only up to a maximum of $1,500.  Will not cover study abroad. 

Period of Eligibility: Summer only.
