Need-Based Grants

Scholarships awarded through the Division of Financial Aid (DFA) are based on the student's academic qualifications and demonstrated financial need (as determined though FAFSA filing). Grants are generally awarded based on financial need and priority is given to applicants that submit their FAFSA by Purdue's March 1 priority filing deadline*. Purdue University scholarships are funded by donations to the University from a wide variety of sources. Included are foundations, trusts, and bequests, as well as scholarships provided by businesses, industries, and individuals interested in supporting students. Below is a list of scholarship and grant programs available at Purdue.

* The priority filing deadline is March 1 of the year that starts each academic year (example: March 1, 2008 for the 2008/2009 academic year, March 1, 2009 for the 2009/2010 academic year, etc.) We recommend that applicants who apply online print and save their FAFSA submission confirmation page and applicants that file a paper FAFSA purchase a Certificate of Mailing from any U. S. Post Office and keep it with a copy of your completed FAFSA application as a source of proof that your application was submitted on or before the priority deadline date. It is not necessary to forward this proof to our office unless it is personally requested.
