The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has recently announced that they will expand their Millenium Scholars program for the first time since it was founded in 1999 by $58 million. This expansion will target low-income and minority students who are pursuing graduate degrees in public health.
This program has already helped more than 10,000 undergraduate students by giving them scholarships for any degree they wish. Also, many graduate students with various studies have received help. Money has been given to students in every state in more than 1,300 colleges and universities.
The Gates Millenium Foundation will help over 20,000 students in the next 20 years. Much of the money spent by the Gates Foundation is used to better public health, so the students who receive scholarships could possibly end up working for the foundation who helped them get there.
