Please carefully read these important Federal Stafford and PLUS loan application instructions as some processes and procedures are changing in 2008-09.

1. If not already completed, student borrowers need to accept Stafford Loans and Grad PLUS Loans offers in the 2008-09 Financial Aid Self Service web option via www.ssinfo.purdue.edu.

2. Parent PLUS borrowers must submit a Parent PLUS Request Form to the Division of Financial Aid; this form available at www.purdue.edu/dfa/all/0809/parentplus.pdf.

3. All 2008-09 Purdue-West Lafayette Stafford and PLUS loan borrowers will need to sign a new electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) to receive Stafford or PLUS loan funds beginning in the fall 2008 semester. The borrower will use the U.S. Department of Education issued PIN number to complete the electronic MPN. This PIN number is the same number used to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Borrowers should complete this process as soon as possible at www.dlenote.ed.gov. For your information, due to Federal Stafford Loan changes effective July 1, 2008, the Division of Financial Aid expects to award additional Stafford loan eligibility to many Purdue Stafford Loan-eligible borrowers; these borrowers will be notified by late July about any aid package changes and additional application instructions; more information about July 1 federal law changes available at www.purdue.edu/dfa/newloanlaw.htm.
