Equipment Purchases from XR Grants
It remains a continuing Policy that it is not the purpose to supply capital equipment for departmental use from XR Grants. However, in rare and unusual cases provision may be made at the time a grant is originally established for the purchase of specific capital equipment needed to accomplish a research objective requested in the original proposal for a grant.
When requested a total of $400 per grant may be allowed for materials, supplies or minor pieces of capital equipment needed specifically for the research. Minor pieces of capital equipment sha11 be defined as units costing between $25 and $100. Whenever any capital equipment is requested, the requisition must give the following information:
- The date of expiration of the XR Grant
- A statement that the equipment is purchased in lieu of supplies and materials budgeted in the grant and no additional funds will be requested by reason of such purchase
- A brief statement of justification for the equipment purchase approved by the department head.
