Re: BUSINESS OFFICE MEMORANDUM NO. 44

Delivery of Payroll Checks

Section 39.7 of the Manual of Business Procedure states, "pay checks which are undelivered by the department two days after the receipt thereof are returned to the Comptroller Is Office".

Experience has shown that it requires more than two days, in many instances, to deliver all checks to the individual employees. The period in which the department may hold a pay check for an employee, therefore, is being increased from two days to seven calendar days. Any check which cannot be delivered within seven days should be returned to the Comptroller's Office.
