Staff Enrollment in University Classes
Members of the full-time clerical and service staffs may be permitted, with the approval of the head of their department, division, and the Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer of the University, to enroll in regular University classes offered for credit by Purdue University, or attend short courses, workshops and conferences scheduled by the Adult Education Division, in accordance with the following:
- An employee may take six course hours per semester or three course hours during the summer session provided that no more than three regularly scheduled work hours per week shall be used for class and/or laboratory.
- The time absent from work shall be made up at the convenience of the head of the department or division concerned and reported for approval of the Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer. However, an employee who is requested or required to attend a University class, short course, workshop or conference by the head of his department or division will not be required to make up time absent from work, but must furnish a satisfactory record of attendance at sessions.
- An employee electing to take a University course for credit shall pay fees normally required of part-time students.
- An employee enrolling in a University course for credit must present the regular application forms for a special student to the Director of Admissions, together with Business Manager and Comptroller Form 23 approved by his department or division head and the Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer. An employee enrolling in a short course, workshop or conference which does not require a special admissions form must present Form 23 approved by the head of his department or division and -the Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer.
