Re: BUSINESS OFFICE MEMORANDUM NO. 22
Hotel Reservations - Personal Expense
The rules and regulations covering travel specifically state that telegrams and telephone calls reserving hotel accommodations are a personal expense and are considered a part of the per diem paid to an individual for travel. However, the Business Office continues to receive telephone toll charges and copies of telegrams making such reservations and charging the cost to University funds.
When this occurs it causes considerable embarrassment to the individual traveler who sent the telegram or made the telephone call as well as the Business Office. It will therefore be appreciated if this is called to the attention of the individuals within each department who have occasion to travel.
