Re: Approval of Fees and Charges


At its meeting on 18 January 1967, the Board of Trustees adopted the attached policy and procedure for approval of fees and charges on the various campuses of Purdue University.

Pursuant to the policy and procedure established it is the responsibility of the Dean, Director and Head of School, Divisions Department and Office for each area to assure that all fees and charges of any kind have been previously approved by the Board of Trustees or the Vice President and Treasurer or his designee.

If such fees and charges have not been approved, a request for approval with a listing of the fees and charges should be forwarded to the Business Manager.

If the fees and charges are variable in nature, a brief statement of the policy followed in establishing such fees and charges should also be forwarded to the Business Manager.

For the academic areas, the Business Administrator or Business Representative for each area has been requested to assist in the review of all fees and charges. Please coordinate with his office in reviewing fees and charges.

ESTABLISHMENT AND APPROVAL OF FEES AND CHARGES
 
The following fees and charges will be specifically approved by the Board of Trustees:

  1. All student and staff fees related to the enrollment in Purdue University for credit and non-credit course work

  2. All fees charged for living in University-owned housing

  3. Fees charged the students, staff, and public to attend major athletic events of the University

  4. Deposits and charges required for application to Purdue University

  5. Parking charges - staff, students, and visitors

  6. Purdue Memorial Union room rates

  7. Changes to staff fringe benefits

The Board of Trustees delegates to the Vice President and Treasurer or his designee the responsibility and authority to establish and approve all other fees and charges on the Lafayette Campus and Regional Campuses including but not limited to the following: (Reports of such approvals will be made in the President's Calendar.)

  1. Educational Services

    1. Library foreign language translation charges
    2. Computer and related equipment use charges
    3. Nursery School
    4. Departmental Publications
    5. DC-6 Simulator use charges
    6. Special courses - School of Agriculture
    7. Summer Session intensive courses and workshops
    8. Conference fees
    9. Life Insurance Marketing fees
    10. Student course materials not sold by local merchants
    11. Pharmacy charges - prescriptions and medical supplies
    12. Departmental machine shops
    13. Copy machine sales
    14. Transcripts
    15. Audio-Visual Center tape production and rental
    16. Motion picture tape production and tape play
    17. Loss and breakage
    18. Achievement Center for Children

  2. Testing fees

    1. Hearing tests
    2. Trace elements
    3. Materials testing
    4. Corn performance
    5. Sorghum performance
    6. Fruit and vegetables
    7. Counseling and Testing Center
    8. Measurement and Research Center
