World's Largest Block P

What a Homecoming! The Purdue Alumni Band had 500 participants – both marching and non-marching members – from 32 states on Oct. 26. It was the largest alumni group on campus for Homecoming 2007 and they made their presence felt in music and spirit.

The oldest member returning was 92-year-old Lorne Doud, class of 1937, from Roann, IN. The member who came the longest way for the reunion was Wendi Murashige, class of 1995, from Honolulu, HI. Even President France Córdova got in the spirit of things, twirling a baton in front of the AAMB as it marched to Ross-Ade.

Many alums told Director of Bands Jay Gephart that they thought this was the best reunion ever. He credits the Purdue Band and Orchestra Alumni Club for arranging social activities and helping pull the whole weekend together. Not even Friday’s rain could dampen the spirits, and seeing both bands combine for a gigantic “Block P” was a priceless Kodak moment for all involved! Thank you everyone – check out the photos.
