2003 Fall Alumni Band

Alums of all eras! Plan right now to join the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band in two days of festivities, Oct. 26-27, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the "Block P."

Beyond traditional activities, several exciting things are happening:

  • The newly formed Purdue Band & Orchestra Alumni Club will host a barbecue under a big tent set up between Elliott Hall and the old Memorial Gym. It will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Reservations needed.

  • Interested alumni can march in the Electric Light Homecoming Parade which steps off at 8 p.m. Oct. 26. If enough alumni marchers are interested, they will form their own band. If there's not enough for a whole band, alums will be integrated into the current AAMB.

  • Non-marching Spotts and Early Wright Era alums are invited to attend a special 9 a.m. breakfast in the tent on Saturday, Oct. 27. During halftime, they will be recognized in the end zone as the early guardians of the "Block P" tradition.

Bill Kisinger will direct the Alumni Band this year, and he hopes to tuck a music rehearsal between dinner and the parade Friday to get you warmed up for the weekend. There's also an early morning rehearsal for marchers on Saturday, Oct. 27. Homecoming events that day include a huge halftime tribute to the "Block P" and, in true Purdue style, we hope to form the "World's Largest Block P."
