SHERRY CARDEN, 1965-66
Home: Bingham Farms, MI
Current occupation: Attorney/Manager of Barnes and Noble Bookstore
Past jobs/life situations that have contributed to the richness of my life: Being one of the first female executives at Chrysler Corporation, and my criminal law practice.
Hobbies/passions that I enjoy: Books and painting in both oils and watercolor
What made/makes the Golden Girl position so special: Meeting people and representing Purdue University. It is the most coveted of baton twirling positions. Actually becoming the "Golden Girl" validates all the training, practice and contests.
How being Golden Girl has shaped/impacted my life beyond Purdue: It gave me self esteem, a feeling of accomplishment and the ability to meet goals. Assisting in the baton twirling summer camp at Purdue made me fell like I was able to "give back."
Favorite memories from being Golden Girl: Going to Columbia and Venezula for the International Music Fair. Because there are no natural blonds in South America, they thought I was a goddess. More important was meeting the people.
Performing at the University of Michigan because I am from the Detroit area. As I ran from one end zone to the other, my mom, in the stands, stood and yelled "That's my Baby!"
