Bands have enhanced
life on campus since 1886 because of the passion of Purdue
students to make music. Generous support from alumni,
parents, fans and friends of music over all those 117
years, has nurtured that passion and allowed Bands, a
non-degree curriculum at Purdue, to expand and achieve
excellence in all its ensembles.
The current Campaign For Purdue provides all schools and
departments at the University an opportunity to raise
their program to the next level of excellence. Purdue
University Bands is no exception. Through careful strategic
planning, implementation of goals and objectives, and
with the support of Band alumni and friends, we hope to
continue to improve upon our tradition of making music
at Purdue University.
Roughly 60% of our annual budget comes from private gifts.
These gifts to Purdue University Bands fund scholarships,
student travel, and the purchase and maintenance of instruments.
In general, private support helps insure that our student
performers have opportunities that offer a tremendous
amount of enrichment and personal growth during their
time at Purdue.
This year’s fundraising goal for Purdue University
Bands is $300,000 – a portion of the overall campaign
goal of $4 million. It’s a lofty goal, but one we
believe is achievable with continued support from our
loyal fans. There are a variety of ways to give to University
Bands, whether it is in the form of cash gifts, appreciated
securities, planned gifts, and/or gifts-in-kind. For more
information about how you can get involved, please contact
the Department of University Bands directly at (765) 494-0770.
