Recreational Sports
Purdue's Division
of Recreational Sports offers intramural sports,
club sports, fitness/wellness services, and informal
(drop-in) sports. Indoor facilities include the following:
-
The Recreational Sports Center (RSC) offers space
for badminton, basketball, handball, martial arts, racquetball,
roller/floor hockey, soccer, squash, table tennis, volleyball,
and wallyball. The RSC is open 18 hours a day during
the academic year. The RSC's lower level houses the 19,000-square-foot
Colby Fitness Center, featuring more than 190 pieces
of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, including
cardio theater. An open-design concept, 17 television
sets, central air conditioning, full elevator access
throughout the RSC, and a state-of-the-art sound system
all complement the exercise experience.
-
The Boilermaker Aquatic Center is connected to the
RSC via a corridor. Designed in a "Dotted I" configuration -- the "I" represents
the 8-lane, 50-meter competitive pool, while the "dot" is
the 6-lane, 25-yard diving tank -- the 80,000-square-foot
center is used for intercollegiate swimming and
diving, as well as for recreational swimming, diving,
and water aerobics.
Other Recreation
The Purdue Memorial
Union is the main focal point of other recreational activities
at the University. PMU offers a recreation
center with 10 bowling lanes, 12 billiards tables, and
a video arcade.
