Getting into college
takes a good deal of preparation, which is one
of the reasons that the advice and support of
a high school counselor is so important to students.
Please share the following to-do list with your
students to help them prepare for college.
To-Do List for College-Bound Students

- Make a list of the kinds of resources you'll
need at college and the type of college environment

who have careers in the field(s) you want
to pursue.
- Take the PSAT or start studying for
the ACT or SAT.

11th Grade
12th Grade
- Apply for
admission to Purdue as early as possible
in your senior year!
- Attend Fall
Preview Days if you're considering
attending Purdue.
- Apply for financial
aid.
- Once admitted, send in your housing application
and tuition deposit ASAP to ensure you have
a spot in the freshman class, as well as a place
to live.
- Begin applying for scholarships and
find out all of their deadlines. Consider
retaking the ACT or SAT, as a higher score
will make you more competitive for scholarships.
- Start looking at Purdue's residence
halls and apartments. A housing contract
and hall preference form will be mailed
to you in April if you've applied for housing.
You'll receive your hall assignment and
your roommate's name in early June.
- Attend Purdue's
for Me.
- Sign up for Boiler
Gold Rush, Purdue's orientation program
for freshmen.
- Sign up for classes at Day
on Campus.
- Start your new life as a Boilermaker!
