Amelia Earhart

A woman who reached for the sky helped women reach for the stars

Amelia Earhart has long inspired young women to pursue their dreams, even if they face obstacles to their goals and especially if those dreams will take them beyond traditional careers. Still, in 2006, women held 1.3 million jobs in science and engineering, a third of the 3.7 million held by men. That means plenty of opportunity for women in these fields. Science and engineering careers offer the chance to make new discoveries and to make a difference in the world.

Robin Bellinger

Interim Vice President for Development

Robin Bellinger joined Purdue in 2002, and began serving as interim vice president for development in July 2009, following the departure of Murray Blackwelder.

Bellinger has held several leadership positions at Purdue, most recently as associate vice president for devlopment. She has conducted benchmark studies to identify the characteristics of the fundraising programs of the nation's other top land-grant universities and has been responsible for managing the development research staff and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing major gift support across campus schools, colleges, and units.

As interim vice president for development, she oversees the University Development Office and public radio and serves as administrative liaison to the Purdue Alumni Association. The development office is currently raising $304 million for Access and Success, a campaign to provide scholarships and help students graduate.

Bellinger was co-chair of the campus design team for the Purdue strategic plan and serves on Purdue’s Master Plan Committee. She serves on the board of directors of Leadership Lafayette and the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette as well as on the building committee for First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette.
